Tata Consultancy Services, the information technology unit of the Tata Group, is more than a quarter of the way to its goal of garnering $1 billion (more than Rs 6,150 crore) in revenue from the group’s companies, two people with knowledge of the matter said.
Experts who track IT spending in India say there is no issue with the Tata Group asking its group companies to use its IT arm. “TCS is one of the best IT companies in the world and they are doing well on their own as well. They win contracts competing against the best companies as it is,” said Sanchit Vir Gogia, chief analyst and CEO at Greyhound Research. “I don’t see that there is anything wrong with the Tata Group wanting to move work to them. It makes sense.”
