The Infosys Board of Directors announced the selection of Dr. Vishal Sikka as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of the company. Dr. Sikka is to be inducted as a whole-time director of the Board and CEO & MD (Designate) on June 14, 2014. He will take over as CEO and MD from Mr. S. D. Shibulal on August 1, 2014.
Sharing his thoughts on this move, Sanchit Vir Gogia, Chief Analyst, Greyhound Research, stated, “Surely an interesting choice in Vishal. There is no doubt on him being a true innovator and thought leader and his contributions at SAP have been extraordinary. It’ll be interest to watch the evolution of Infosys once he assumes office. This might just be the start of an interesting transition of the company. While IT services and SI activities will remain as core, it’s expected for Vishal to significantly add to the existing SAP HANA practice at Infosys. This appointment will also bring attention and muscle to developing internal IP at Infosys and add to the non-linear growth story. Infosys peers are also closely watching this change and Vishal’s appointment has the potential to spark a similar change across other players as well.”
