What is the event all about?

Big Data has been the buzzword in the technology space for quite some time now, with analysts and service providers discussing numerous benefits that can be derived by crunching the huge data sets available. With increase in Big Data awareness levels, Indian enterprises are also realizing the potential of Big Data analytics and are looking to unlock the business value from their data.A joint study by NASSCOM and CRISIL Global Research & Analytics suggests that by 2015, Big Data is expected to become a USD 25 billion industry. The report estimates that the Indian Big Data industry will grow from USD 200 million in 2012 to USD 1 billion in 2015 at a CAGR in excess of 83 percent. While the domestic market is still nascent, the potential for Big Data is huge.

At present, over 40 percent of Indian organizations (across verticals like BFSI, Media and Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Government) have more than 100 TB data. 1/3rd of Indian organizations indicated more than 60 percent year-on-year data growth and more than 1/3rd of Indian enterprises mostly have unstructured data. Big data is emerging as big priority; 4 in 5 IT managers in India (83 percent) agree that Big Data will be a strategic priority for their companies in 2013 and over the next five years as well compared to 68 percent globally.
