Sweat It Out In Style: Ralph Lauren Launches the PoloTech Shirt

10 views Reading Time: 2 minutes

In August 2015, Ralph Lauren launched the PoloTech Shirt – a smart wearable garment. Developed in partnership with OMsignal, the shirt uses silver fibers woven directly into its fabric and measures real-time workout data like heart rate, breathing depth and balance, calories burnt, steps taken, among other data.

Debuted at the US Open 2014, this shirt is compatible with Apple iPhone and iPod Touch (iOS 8 and above) and streams biometric data via a detachable, bluetooth-enabled black box. Based on this data, the PoloTech App (available only on the US App store) suggests adaptive cardio, strength and agility workouts.

Hot Or Not? At Greyhound Research we believe the PoloTech Shirt is a good wearable tech product for sports and fitness enthusiasts. The product is suitable to wear for adult males. A word of caution, the shirt should not be worn during contact or combat sports or activities like football, water sports or wrestling. Also, do not wear this shirt if you have an implantable medical device such as a pacemaker.

Using it already? Do leave us a line (or two) and let us know your experience. If not, would you invest in a smart garment like this?
